Christmas Trees - My Hobby Lobby Rip Off

So I was in hobby Lobby during the weekend and i noticed the cute little Buffalo Check Trees Everywhere, then I saw the price and decided to try and make my own..

What I Used for Supplies:

  •  I bought 3 sizes of foam cones: 1 large 1 medium and 2 small
  • 1 yard of Red Buffalo Check Material
  • I used Scissors, Twine, Buttons and Hot Glue..

Note Of Warning:

Remember I am pretty terrible at crafting, I don't use measurements, I never remember to write anything down as i decide to make something new,  I pretty much do everything on the fly and I
forget to take pictures all the time...
So if you need exact measurements etc, I can't help you and I'm so so sorry - I'm that guy!! or girl rather... lol...

How I did It:

  • I measured the size of each cone onto the Buffalo Check Material, laying them on their sides ( so measure top to bottom leaving excess on both ends,) and then using a fabric pencil, mark out the area to cut - the piece of material should be large enough to roll the cone so its completely covered and it should look like a rounded bottom triangle.
  • I cut each piece of fabric for each sized cone then simply hot glued the first edge of the fabric onto the cone then rolled the fabric tightly onto the cone until the seams meet, then hot glue down that side at the seam and trim off excess..
  • I then trimmed the bottom and hot glued any excess pieces down evenly..
  • I then cut circles  on the buffalo check material using the foam cone bases as a guide for sizing..
  • I then hot glued the material onto the bottom of the cones to cover them and make then sit nicely.
  • I then folded the top down onto the cone and hot glued it and cut off any excess material.
  • I decided to decorate my cones a little more and added twine in various ways with buttons for a rustic and Christmassy effect..
And here are my finished cones, I love them and will probably do more in the grey check, black and white check or burlap next year...

Enjoy and Happy Crafting :)

New Craft Room Stuff

I got new furniture for my craft room..
Gary out did himself and decked me out with the beginning to a much better crafty fun place!
I love him he's amazing...

My Old Craftroom "Click here"

So I got:
  •  4 Alex Drawer Units
  • 2 Lindman Table Tops
  • Kalex Shelving Unit 4 x 4
  • Plastic Bag Holders for Vinyl
  • Bracket Shelving and Buckets

Ikea is my new bestest friend

Its a work in progress but its slowly coming together and excuse the mess,
I've been getting it organised, now that  I have so many drawers and shelves,
However I guarantee I'll fill this all up and  still need more lol

New Room Snaps:

 Kalex 4 x 4 Unit

Where I moved the old cube storage

Vinyl Love  - Plastic Bag Holders From Ikea

 Bracket Shelves and Buckets
Now holds all my painting stuff

Its hard to see my desk tops and the Alex drawers...
With all the moving there's clutter spots while I organise,
but the 4 Alex drawers are underneath
and I can literally sit around the whole unit, its like a crafting island..
This room is tiny, so its hard to even get in here to get any good pictures..
I'm excited, new pics when its finished soon..

Birthday Card For My Kidlet's Dad

My son is awesome, he's Autistic, Super Smart, but has the obvious Autism related Issues..
He also has Grand Mal Seizures, among other things to add to his plate.  He has a huge heart of gold and always wants to do nice tings for his dad's birthday...
So when your kind hearteded son says "Mum, can you make Dad(My Ex) a card from me for his birthday?" you tend to say yes and get to crafting...
So the list of things he asked for the theme of the card for was pretty simple,
"Mum, I'd like it to be beachy, ocean stuff or Irish stuff."
 "You can do that right?"
"Of course I can, I replied!"
Well I had all of those things, kinda!!!!

Supplies List:

  • 1 - 8.5 x 11 Teal Cardstock (Recollections)
  • 1 - 6 x 6 Cardbase and Envelope ( Isused 12 x 12 Cardstock in white for both)
  • I had some Nautical Themed Ephemera, stuff left over from another project - I think mine is HunkyDory
  • Ink - For Sentiment - Versafine
  • Ranger Liquid Pearls - Opal
  • Bakers Twine
I should have used a fish, anchor or other item for the envelope embellishment,
the crab didn't look right..
I stuck the teal middle layered square in the teal color paper on sideways
and didn't realize until the card was done... Tragic!!
It's okay,  no-one else noticed either.. lol
P.S. Aidan - loved the card and was very proud to give it too his dad for his birthday.

Thanksgiving Wreath

I just wanted to share this image of the first wreath, Iever made..
I used MayMay's Wreath Video Tutorial and it seriously was the best and easiest wreath tutorial to follow.
Her youtube channel is filled with so many ideas, creative classes, and so on.. So Subscribe you won't regret it..
She also hosts an live after show with her husband Vinnie and shows all her viewers the great gifts, thank you's, cards and also new products in her store that will be available... I love me some MayMay...

I think I filled it enough, but my scissors had a rought time cutting the filler ribbon, so it keeps shredding lol...
I do love the look of the wreath and just keep triming bits , oh well its seasonal ... right?

Dom Barrett Ebonite Bowler - Not Crafting Related

At USBC Open Syracuse NY
We had the pleasure and honor of bowling the team event with one of
 Ebonite's International PBA Bowling Superstars
 from England, UK.

I can't believe he was my teammie lol

He was super humble, super nice,
gave us some thoughts and tips on bowling internationally
and at our level..
He was happy to chat with us during our games
and with us throughout the afternoon..

It could not have been any better an event
Here's A great Pic of the English Gentleman himself and me.

Happy Crafting or Bowling :)

Not Craft Related At All - Bowling

So As my "About Me" page mentions,
I'm a League Ten Pin Bowler
and I also work in a Bowling Pro Shop, which can be fun :)

In the last 2 times bowling league I have shot really well
4 Games for 872 Series - Avg 218 per Game
and 3 Games for 710 Series - Avg 236 per Game

I've been bowling mid 600's Series a lot for 3 games
so the bowling has been great lately.

For bowling sleuths on equipment and conditions:
I'm throwing the Hammer Gauntlet weighing Approx: 14lb/4oz.
The shot is:  League House Pattern on Fire and Ice Oil by Kegel.
R/H - Fingertip - No Weight Hole.

Mentally this is always a good boost, especially with the
USBC Nationals Tournament In July at Syracuse NY
coming up..

Happy Crafting
or Bowling :)

Vinyl Holder Made from Toilet Rolls

I don't know about you but I was struggling with how to store vinyl and if you look in my craft room I have this holder on my wall...
I had only just made it pre-photo's so I thought I'd share the close up image and where the idea came from..

Firstly:  this vinyl holder was fun to make and didn't take me very long at all.
It seems to be holding up really well thus far, and for something made from very simple items, I'm very pleased with it..

Secondly: I got my idea from Corinne Blackstone
who has a wonderful youtube video with a step by step guide
on how to put this cute craft room idea together..
I'm not sure if she's the very original person who came up with this idea,
however I found her tutorial to be very easy to follow so I'm linking her :)

Craft Room Woes

So I'm sure a lot of people have great craft-room's with tons of storage and space, sadly I have a very small space its about 10" by 9" in size with a closet full of clothes, handbags, bowling equipment etc..
It was actually our storage room, but i have since taken it over..
So I'm sharing a couple of pictures of my makeshift craft room, which I'm sure given time will get more organised and be more functional..
Right now I craft on 2 folding tables we got from Sam's and a folding chair from there as well..
I have a small cube unit from target, with some canvas inserts,  and then a bunch of plastic containers in various sizes and 1 plastic drawer tower, I think I got that on sale from Big Lots.
It is very cramped and I literally have piles of stuff everywhere as I keep running out of containers and space lol..
I also collect Boyd's Bears so they are strewn throughout the room and the rest of the house as well..
It's not a crafter's delight nor dream space, but for now it's all I have and it somewhat works.

Mothers Day - For my Boyfreind's Mum

Well this was an unusual year given I now have Mother's Day  to think about again.
My mum passed away several years ago, and my husband and I parted ways, so I haven't had to worry about doing the gift or card thing for several years..
But new boyfriend, new mum to try to please!
So I heard she was into crafty things too, makes bead items, knits etc...
So i thought I would make her a gift box and card.
The card and box SVG's are from my favorite Dreaming Tree Team..
Its from their very pretty "For The Ladies" Bundle. you can of course purchase each item separately.

Supplies For Dress Card:

  • 1 Sheet Of 12X12 White Cardstock (American Crafts)
  • 1 Sheet Of 12X12 Lavender Cardstock (American Crafts)
  • 1 Sheet Of 12X12 Apricot Cardstock ( Recollections)
  • 1 Sheet Of 8.5X11 Black Cardstock (Recollections)
  • 1 Sheet Of 12X12 Grey Metallic Pattern Paper - (Joann Stores)
  • 1 Sheet Of 8.5X11 Apricot Floral Pattern Paper (The  Paper Studio)
  • 1 Sheet Of 8.5X11 Silver Foil Paper (Cricut)
  • Pink Dotted in Colors Ribbon  (Joann Stores)
  • Rhinestones and Pearl Stick On's
  • Ink For Stamping Sentiment - Versafine
  • Hot Glue
  • Craft or Paper Glue - Scotch Tacky Glue
  • Wink of Stella Brush - Clear

I actually did very well on this card... My only gripe was you couldn't see the Wink of Stella in the details of the dress in pictures lol and the dress is a tiny bit further to the left then it should have been..  Otherwise this turned out very pretty.

Supplies For Orchid Box:

  • 2 Sheets Of 12X12 Apricot Cardstock (Recollections)
  • 2 Sheets Of 12X12 Dark Pink Cardstock (Recollections)
  • 1 Sheet Of 8.5X11 Light Lime Green Cardstock (Recollections)
  • 1 Sheet Of 12X12 Light Teal Dots Pattern Paper (The Paper Studio)
  • 1 Sheet Of 8.5X11 Teal Pattern Paper (The Paper Studio)
  • 1 6 x 8 Scrap Cardstock for lid edge decoration (DCWV Embossed White Card Stock)
  • Wired Organza Ribbon Glitter Silver Translucent (1.5” In Thickness)
  • Dry Baby’s Breath
  • Rhinestones
  • Ink For Edging Orchid and Leaves - Tim Holtz Distress Inks
  • Hot Glue and Gun
  • Glue - Scotch Tacky Glue

This was a tough little project and Leo always makes them look easy.
The paper wrinkled a little bit in some areas and my orchid didn't have as much dimension
as I would have liked, otherwise this turned out quite pretty..
The pictures don't show the true colors, sadly, as the box lid is more orange then it appears..

Michael's Haul

Although Michael’s, Joann and Hobby Lobby here in Central Florida aren’t very good at keeping their stores stocked ( I hope your’s is better)..
I did manage some total bargins at Michael’s yesterday.
I dragged the Boyfriend to just look around and hope they finally got some Dies in stock,
Luckily for us they were having a 3pm – Close April 3rd ONLY SALE ”
If you spend $50.00 or more you take off $20.00!”
Now it ruled out anything on clearance, and the usual machines and supplies, candy, magz and books etc, but we managed to find some stuff..

I asked my Boyfriend bring his phone into the store and got him to have the coupon as well and we both checked out on separate tabs
I also had a 50% off 1 reg priced item so I used that little gem too.
They also had one of their 40% sales on tons of items and luckily for me Stamping and Papercrafting items were in that 40% off group, AS were Tombow Dual Brush Pens…
My best price on markers EVER.. $26.99ea is their Tombow Dual Brush Markers!
 I paid $9.00ea that’s RIDICULOUS!!
I was so impressed with that $18.00 savings and I so wish I had bought more, but alas I have a budget and had to stick to it!
Anyhow here’s my list of great items all for the HUGE price tag of $88.01!
The actual price without discounts was, $229.41 ($245.46 w/Tax) WE saved a total of $148.16…

Comprehensive Freebie List

Sorry for the lack of posting,
My time is dedicated to so much these days and I’ll be reining my hobbies in and devoting more time to my family, PT, work and finally "sadly" crafting.
This comes with the knowledge that I have a herniated disc in my back and pretty much have to give up on some of my other sporting activities..
With that said I have made some things and I will post them here soon..
With learning new things comes a lot of reading, downloading and gathering goods both digitally and physically from stores and trust me when I say I’ve done a lot of all 3 since this journey began..
I wanted to share some of my favorite sites with you for fonts, svg’s, prints, clipart, vectors and other useful crafty things…
You can subscribe to these sites and get freebies in your email, daily or weekly depending on the site, most also have youtube videos so watching and reading = learning, there is just so much information out there, its ridiculous.
Some of the sites have multiple purposes so I will add them to all the lists but not link them every time. 🙂

Please remember MOST of the files you can Download are suitable only for free, personal use, not to sell or use on items you sell.
Most have full versions you can purchase or licenses you can purchase, please read the TOS, Angel Disclaimer, Copyright, etc on their websites or READ ME files in the zips.
I hope this helps your crafting endeavors.. Enjoy!!

Card Mania

So I’m going to post my latest cards here all together, I’ve made a few i forgot to take pictures of and I’m in the process of some others, but here is my small collection!

My favorite to make was the Stilletto Shoe card from Dreaming Tree
(They seriously make the very best designs to play with and their customer service is amazing.)
The Easter Bunny Card is also from Dreaming Tree ,
The Balloon Card is from SVGCuts
The Bicycle Card, Happy Birthday Card and Easter Card are all from Cricut Access.

I didn't line the shoe up perfectly onto the Shoe Card base so its a little skewed, and you can see some cardstock edges..
The Balloon Card was a toughy and not all the panels are lined up correctly so some are a little crooked...
The Easter Bunny Card is fine but the paper wrinkled a little bit..
The Easter Card is not lined up in the middle quite right, and the sentiment stamp inside blurred...
The Happy Birthday Card I glued on upside down, so it opened backwards, hence to say they got a store bought card as I didn't have time to fix it, and wasn't quite sure how I could to make it work.. lol
The bicycle back panel isn't on straight and I wasn't happy with the wheels..
So as much as I'm still making mistakes, only i really noticed the small ones.. which is okay by me lol
Okay so there's a little sample of things I've made, follow the links to make you very own..

Happy Crafting 🙂

Ooh-La-La-Lah "Fancy"

The journey into crafting presents such a diverse, interesting, time consuming, educational world!

I use time consuming loosely, but if you have plenty of time, want to and aren’t afraid to learn and fail, get educated from around the globe, meet tons of amazingly talented and gifted people then crafting has it all!
It’s the one stop shop, with one of a kind of everything including people. 🙂
Today’s project is my boyfriends anniversary card..
There’s nothing super special about this, nothing too fancy except the fact its a fancy edged card base from Monica’s collection
Her collection of fancy edged cards are truly beautiful.

I chose a gold pearl card stock, for the base.
I used a “Cricut Access – Love” cutout for the front, using a brocade flocked card stock.
I lined the inside of the card with black and added a neutral colored sentiment layer as well.
I actually used a stamp on that sentiment layer “first time for that! ”
I really like how nicely the stamp stamped!
I’m so new to this stuff that even stamping has me perplexed on how involved, intricate and just how much is out there to learn, but also buy to have even the simple basics.. OMG!!
 Crafting is mind boggling!
I added embellishments to inside and outside the card and made an envelope with a scalloped design to fit the card, using patterned paper with a tiny heart cutout, that I added a black lining to as well.
I was happy with the end result, and he loved it!
I’m still learning to make these designs “look like my own,” so I can then move onto figuring out how to create my own things etc…
Once I feel a lot more comfortable doing this stuff,
I’ll start trying to educate myself more and more on everything else to begin to try and create things from scratch! If nothing it should be a lot of fun along the way….

  • 1 x Gold(Pearl) 12 x 12 Card Stock – American Crafts
  • 1 x Black 12 x 12 Card Stock – American Crafts
  • 1 x Neutral ( Tan or Cream) 8 x 11.5 Card Stock – Neenah
  • 1 x Black 12 x 12 Flocked Brocade Card Stock – The Paper Studio
  • Fancy Edge Card – Monica’s Creative Room
  • Inspired By Life (Rubber) Stamp – Stampabilities
  • Black Pigment Ink Pad – Versafine
  • “With Love” (Silicone) Stamp – Stampabilities
  • Stamp Block – Stampabilities
  • Red Rhinestone Embellishments
  • Foam Squares – Scrapbook Adhesives
  • Scotch Tacky Glue
  • Double Sided Tape – Sticky Thumb
Using the flocked Brocade Cardstock was a nightmare lol, it collects more dust than a cobweb..
I should have inlaid the card better as i ran out of room and my writing got smaller and smaller, so it looked stupid...

You can find most of the supplies I used for this card at Joann’s, Michael’s, Hobby Lobby or Amazon. Thanks for reading and Happy Crafting! 🙂

Technically when you make cards from the heart to a loved one, they are Cardiology without any blood!
In particular this gate card I made for my wonderful boyfriend, as a token of gratitude after he purchased me the Cricut Brightpad. Thanks again Gary ❤

This Gate card I made using the base from the free cards DL section by Monica
She has so many beautiful choices for you to Download that you can also alter and embellish.
The gate card also has an easel stand to hold it on also from Monicas Creative Room.

I chose to also line my card with heart paper and insert another liner with my sentiment on it.
The envelope I made by using the measurements of the cards and creating them in Cricut.
I’m Having such a journey and am learning new things everyday, especially from my mistakes.
 Trust me…..
I have a card I recently made, that I completely glued wrong, so it opens upside down and I’m trying to figure out a fix for that, but I learned, really quickly lol....
to triple check before that glue hits the paper..
 🙂 Happy Crafting 🙂

  • Monica’s Creative room Gate Card – SVG CUT FILE
  • 1 12 x 12 Black 80lb Cardstock, Card & Easel
  • 1 12 x 12 White 80lb Cardstock, Card Sentiment Insert
  • 1 12 x 12 patterned paper, Card inside liner
  • Red Heart Button, Front Heart Embellishment
  • Velcro Dots, To Close and Open Gate Car
  • Hot Glue, For Heart Button
  • Scotch Tacky Glue, For Liner and Insert
So the only "real" problem I had with this card
was that I didn't use cardstock that was heavy enough for the easel part.
I think I used 65gm and the easel would bend from the weight of the card..

Reverse Canvas (w) HTV -I'm Not Scared Anymore!

So I finally decided to venture into trying HTV and I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!!!
I’ve made 2 signs – you can see the Laundry one below.
The coffee sign is more to my liking than the laundry one.

  How I did It:
For both of the signs I used 11 x 14 Canvas’s, cutting off the canvas with a rotary knife and I then ironed it flat and added the HTV of the Coffee SVG I had cut on my Cricut Maker.

I painted the frames before attaching the HTV to the canvas, I was actually lazy and never removed the staples, but they were in so flatly they were not an issue at all and were covered over by the canvas once I had hot glued it…
The coffee sign I painted with distressed antiquing medium in Nutmeg (by Folk Art),
The Laundry sign frame is chalk paint in Sage (also by Folk Art).
I then rubbed the frames with a dry cloth, to look somewhat used.
Once the frames were dry I reattached the canvas.
I used hot glue to adhere the canvas back to the frame, by flipping it, so the canvas was now glued to the rear of the frame.

Jennifer Maker has a great tutorial on Reverse Canvas Signs, which is how I came across this fabulous inexpensive way to add great wall art to you home.
 Thank you so much Jennifer.
This has been by far my favorite project and I’m already planning doing more.

  •  2 x ( 11 x 14 ) Canvas (w) Frames (I purchased a pack of 7 for $9.99) from Hobby Lobby
  • Folk Art Antique Medium (Nutmeg) Folk Art Chalk Paint (Sage)
  • Small – Medium Sponge Paint Brush
  • Dry Cloth (old T-shirt material is great)
  • SVG’s: Cricut Access (Design Space)
  • Fonts From
  • Cricut Maker
  •  Hot Glue Gun and Glue

Coffee SVG is from Cricut Access/Design Space
Laundry SVG I created using clothes pegs and flourish from Cricut Access
Fonts I downloaded from

Mistakes I made:
I probably should have pulled out the staples, but ended up hot gluing some foam rectangles
onto the corners at the rear of the frame to avoid scratching the walls.
And i wasn't happy with the lighter chalk color, dark worked so much better.

In The Bag

For my next adventure I decided to try my hand at making Mini Daisy Tote, I’m not liking the Aleene’s Tacky Glue, it tends to be clumpy and doesn’t stick as good as I thought it would. I’m in the process of trying to get hold of Art Glitter glue as I’ve heard that its a fantastic glue to work with.
I haven’t tried using my glue gun as of yet on any paper items, I’m trying but I’m sure it would have worked better for the flower and embellishments. Special thanks to Dreaming Tree for their wonderful SVG file to make this cute little treat bag, I think its adorable. I’m sure as I progress, I will make more of these and get much better at them. I placed my daisy to one side but they had their daisy centered.

  • 1) 12″ x 12″ Double sided patterned Cardstock, (Bag Template)
  • 1) 8″ x 11.7″ Solid White Cardstock, (Large Outer Daisy)
  • 1) 8″ x 11.7″ Medium Pink Cardstock, (Inner Daisy, Strip, Base)
  • Rhinestone Fuschia Embellishment
  • Glue
  • SVG Files from The Dreaming Tree .
If you have any questions about how to access the files for this from Dreaming tree, I’ll be happy to help get you to the right place. They also have wonderful tutorials to help piece these cute totes together. Enjoy making your tote and let me know how it turns out.

Again I suck at gluing, the inside is really bad and you can see all the glue lines...
The pink strip is crooked..
And my attempt at inking the edges of the flower failed miserably and it looks like I just had ink on my fingers and transferred it!
But on the bright side,  it is all in one piece, so that's a great day!!

Simple Beginnings

The First thing I must say is ” I’m not a crafter by nature in any way shape or form! I ten pin bowl, play cornhole, take photographs randomly when my mood agrees with the camera and I’m generally never one to get excited about paper or vinyl!!
For Christmas my amazing fella gifted me a Cricut Maker, let me tell you that thing does a lot of stuff!
I've discovered 2 major things in the last couple of months, firstly: I am actually enjoying this crafting journey, I’m slowly getting my tootsies wet, and I know this process will take a lot of time and effort given the only crafty things I’ve ever done was make Fall and Christmas Wreath’s for the door last season! (Thanks to MayMay and Vince, Her tutorials on wreath’s are fantastic!!)

I also learned very fast that Crafting is expensive and now I’ve started using my Cricut, I think it could be addictive and I’ll be somewhat bankrupt by the time its all said and done lol!
I’m sharing my projects here as I go, so I have a way to monitor my own progress and of course learn and get better (bigger lol)
I’ve made a project from the Cricut Access Account, which was a cute card for my fella, and then for Valentine’s Day, I made the treat heart box (Thanks to Dreaming Tree For the Free SVG and tutorial, Their site and tutorials are amazing. )
The cute snack box and card are both Cricut Access designs.( I highly recommend signing up for Cricut Access)! I’m really happy (small lie here) with how they turned out for my first projects and my fella loved them. I’ll be adding to my blog as my journey continues.

Now these may looks somewhat ok to the normal person but here's a list of the errors.

It is fraying , the tubey fill stuff is literally shrinking lol...
The small accents keep falling off, so, it has more hot glue on it then a store sells....

Heart Box
The paper is bubbly and bowed and doesn't sit right, There are gaps everywhere, you can see a lot of glue, the heart on top is not centered right and the bottom looks like it went for a stroll in sticky greyish mud, LOL

If you look carefully, it is not lined up correctly and you can see the white cardstock base!!
