You're A Hoot Card

I created this card for May-May from maymaymadeit who I follow on Youtube and buy from at times. Maymay introduced me to wreath building, card making, Brutus Monroe and Glitter Glue, I'm so very thankful for that. :)

How I did It:
This card is a 4.25 x  5.5 A-2 card
I layered the echo park paper on top of the card base and then 1/2 way down I folded it down and then folded it down again, then folded it upwards, so its 2 mountain folds then a valley fold. gluing only the bottom half of the base card stock.
I then cut a pice of ribbon to size and  threaded ribbon under the last small fold and glued the ribbon and very bottom of the fold down using Tonic - Nuvo glue.
I made a bow using the same Spring Teal ribbon by American Crafts and set it aside.
I cut a cloud shape blue background out of card stock by hand using scissors and decorated the top using Wink of Stella by Zig Pen and set it aside.
I then lined up up my Paper House Owl sticker so it ran diagonal, matching up with the card stock lines and glued the bottom 1/2 down.
Note: The stickers are glittery and do shed quite a bit.
Under the top half of the sticker I inserted my cloud cut and glued it into place and then glued the top half of the sticker down.
Note: The stickers have foam backed adhesive but I wanted to make sure it stayed so I added Nuvo Glue onto the adhesive part of the foam backings.
I cut a flag banner twice, one slightly smaller in 2 colored card stocks and stamped it with a sentiment.
then used adhesive foam squares to hold it in place.
I used some of the flowers in the sticker pack to adorn the banner.
I then stuck the ribbon on top of the smallest fold and lined it up with the ribbon to give it the illusion the ribbon was threaded around the fold and tied into place.
The inside i just cut two card stock layers smaller than the actual card, layered them down and added another of the stickers inside the card for cohesiveness.

The Products used in this card:
Paper/Card: Spring By Echo Park Paper in Pink Check/ Spring Mini Floral
Recollections Light Brights
Adhesives: Tonic Deluxe Adhesive Nuvo Glue,  Small Foam Squares
Ribbon: American Crafts Spring Teal 5 Pack
Embellishments: Paper House "You're A Hoot Owl Sticker Set"

Mistakes I Made:
I should have not used foam squares on the flag banner as the flowers looked wonky on it.
The sentiment stamp on the flag was crooked :(
I should have sealed the glitter to prevent it shedding.
Overall I think the card was cute and I really loved the folded edge. :)

Summer Blossoms

Summer Blossoms Card
I embossed the base layer twice with a fancy edge embossing folder by Crafters Companion, glued it onto the card base, then glued the edge and Glittered around the edge of card base.
I used Summer Blooms Die by Dies By Chloe, cut out the flowers several times using Fairy Garden Cardstock by CC.
I colored the leaves with watercolor Tombow marker and then used spectrum noir sparkle pen in silver for a little shimmer on them.
I glued the flowers down in layers then and popped them up so it gave a more defined look.
I got clear rhinestones covered them in glue and glittered them, once dry I added them into the centers of the flowers.
I glued a piece of dotted velum to the center of the card then glued my flowers onto the center of the card on a slight angle.
I embellished with mini rhinestones, a thinking of you stamped sentiment and bakers twine with a rhinestone glued into the center.

Dragonfly Spring Card

Dragonflies are so dainty, but fierce in the face. I’ve photographed plenty of them, using macro lenses, so I’m familiar with their fierceness and true beauty.
On a card they can be so dainty and beautiful.

New Card and New Creativity

Today I made my first Valentines card for the holiday.
I'm really pleased how this little cutie turned out.
I have been busy trying to figure out some things with creating my own Backgrounds, Stencil SVG's and soon SVG's, its a lot of fun trying to learn new ways to add to your own stash by designing things yourself.
I will be adding a New Stencil and maybe some more backgrounds
for DL in the next few days :)

  • 1 x 110gsm White Cardstock - Staples Brand
  • 1 - 6 x 6 Patterned Paper - My Minds Eye, Lost & Found - Ruby
  • Flower and Leaf Dies - By Chloe
  • Lace Edged Die - Gemini
  • Sentiment Strip Die and With Love Stamp - Sarah Davies Signature Collection
  • Pearl Flower Embellishment for inside flowers
  • 1 - 6 x 6 Pearl Cream Cardstock - American Crafts
  • 1 - Green 6 x 6 Green Cardstock - DCWV
  • Pink Ribbon - Joann's
  • White Opal Liquid Pearls - Ranger
  • Dusty Rose Metallic Liquid Ink - Stampin Up
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Water Spritzer - Ranger
  • Adhesive Runner - Gina K
  • Liquid Glue Pen - Hero Arts
  • Foam Squares

How I Did It:
  1. I basically Spritzed the Cardstock with the metallic ink by putting a couple of drops and rubbing alcohol in a water spritzer, sprayed the Cardstock which I think gave it a marbled sheen effect, and then let it dry, while I put together the flowers and leaves.
  2. I cut the Ruby Paper into 2 triangles and layered them on the card and then inserted the Lace Edged die cut into the top of the V section, under the layered triangles, then glued the outside edges down.
  3. I placed my basic flowers inside the card barely popping out and glued them in, and then layered the other flowers and leaves on top of the mid section using foam squares.
  4. I placed crystal pearls on the corners to tie in with the middle of the flowers.
  5. To finish I placed the sentiment strip and bow in the corner of the card.
  • The flowers could have been slightly centered better.
  • the crystal pearl drops could have been slightly bigger or I could have used something else.

I actually think this card is a cute one, so I'm pretty happy with it and I hope my friend who I am giving it to for "Valentines Day" will like it to.

Enjoy and Happy Crafting.

I never really thought about utilizing them much until amazing creators like Christopher Alan - the founder of Brutus Monroe who inspired me with his amazing blending techniques, using stencils to make beautiful, backgrounds for cards.

Sadly I don't have the particular card image i saw that day, to share with you all, so you can see just how good it looked finished (he was live streaming at the time) but I am linking one of his other blending stencils, You Tube Video's below.

Given the amount of love that people give to us beginners, by sharing their tips, tricks and their SVG's for free, which is awesome,  I thought I would share some love too.

These are the first stencil's I've ever created so be kind lol....

Below are some links to Stencils I made for your Cricut or other cutting machine.

Each zip file contains:

  • The SVG file for cutting on your machine
  •  A Transparent PNG image of the same stencil
  • and a PNG image of the reverse stencil you can also use to print and cut..

Enjoy my Stencils and Happy Crafting.

The Crafty Bestie

I'm pretty sure most Crafter's have that one friend they like to brag about...
Well my crafty friend is very creative in every way, she does a little bit of everything and is probably the most organised person I know, quite unlike me who seems to have chaos in the craft room..
She also plans parties and functions better than anyone I know, so she's an all rounder in most aspects of her life.
Sadly she doesn't have a blog, but it is something I will be talking to her about and hopefully she can put some of her creative ideas, tips and tricks out there for everyone to learn from.
We recently did our first craft class together at Violets Scrapbooking Store where we live and while she was so perfectly organised and doing the craft project with ease and flawlessly...
I was totally the opposite, I had a mess on the table, fluff and bits everywhere and am still finding hot glue in my  hair 3 days later..
I was a web of hot glue trails, while she was neat and tidy, not a hair out of place..
Total opposites, but we did manage to get the job done in time!
The project was for Valentine's day and it was simply adorable..
I promise as soon as V-Day is over I will post my creation, but as it is a gift for my boyfriend, I can't reveal it just yet..
So I'm posting a great pic of me and my crafty bestie..
Meet Jodi shes amazing, a wonderful friend and I hope a future blogger..

Happy Crafting :)
