Dragonfly Spring Card

Dragonflies are so dainty, but fierce in the face. I’ve photographed plenty of them, using macro lenses, so I’m familiar with their fierceness and true beauty.
On a card they can be so dainty and beautiful.

New Card and New Creativity

Today I made my first Valentines card for the holiday.
I'm really pleased how this little cutie turned out.
I have been busy trying to figure out some things with creating my own Backgrounds, Stencil SVG's and soon SVG's, its a lot of fun trying to learn new ways to add to your own stash by designing things yourself.
I will be adding a New Stencil and maybe some more backgrounds
for DL in the next few days :)

  • 1 x 110gsm White Cardstock - Staples Brand
  • 1 - 6 x 6 Patterned Paper - My Minds Eye, Lost & Found - Ruby
  • Flower and Leaf Dies - By Chloe
  • Lace Edged Die - Gemini
  • Sentiment Strip Die and With Love Stamp - Sarah Davies Signature Collection
  • Pearl Flower Embellishment for inside flowers
  • 1 - 6 x 6 Pearl Cream Cardstock - American Crafts
  • 1 - Green 6 x 6 Green Cardstock - DCWV
  • Pink Ribbon - Joann's
  • White Opal Liquid Pearls - Ranger
  • Dusty Rose Metallic Liquid Ink - Stampin Up
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Water Spritzer - Ranger
  • Adhesive Runner - Gina K
  • Liquid Glue Pen - Hero Arts
  • Foam Squares

How I Did It:
  1. I basically Spritzed the Cardstock with the metallic ink by putting a couple of drops and rubbing alcohol in a water spritzer, sprayed the Cardstock which I think gave it a marbled sheen effect, and then let it dry, while I put together the flowers and leaves.
  2. I cut the Ruby Paper into 2 triangles and layered them on the card and then inserted the Lace Edged die cut into the top of the V section, under the layered triangles, then glued the outside edges down.
  3. I placed my basic flowers inside the card barely popping out and glued them in, and then layered the other flowers and leaves on top of the mid section using foam squares.
  4. I placed crystal pearls on the corners to tie in with the middle of the flowers.
  5. To finish I placed the sentiment strip and bow in the corner of the card.
  • The flowers could have been slightly centered better.
  • the crystal pearl drops could have been slightly bigger or I could have used something else.

I actually think this card is a cute one, so I'm pretty happy with it and I hope my friend who I am giving it to for "Valentines Day" will like it to.

Enjoy and Happy Crafting.

I never really thought about utilizing them much until amazing creators like Christopher Alan - the founder of Brutus Monroe who inspired me with his amazing blending techniques, using stencils to make beautiful, backgrounds for cards.

Sadly I don't have the particular card image i saw that day, to share with you all, so you can see just how good it looked finished (he was live streaming at the time) but I am linking one of his other blending stencils, You Tube Video's below.

Given the amount of love that people give to us beginners, by sharing their tips, tricks and their SVG's for free, which is awesome,  I thought I would share some love too.

These are the first stencil's I've ever created so be kind lol....

Below are some links to Stencils I made for your Cricut or other cutting machine.

Each zip file contains:

  • The SVG file for cutting on your machine
  •  A Transparent PNG image of the same stencil
  • and a PNG image of the reverse stencil you can also use to print and cut..

Enjoy my Stencils and Happy Crafting.

The Crafty Bestie

I'm pretty sure most Crafter's have that one friend they like to brag about...
Well my crafty friend is very creative in every way, she does a little bit of everything and is probably the most organised person I know, quite unlike me who seems to have chaos in the craft room..
She also plans parties and functions better than anyone I know, so she's an all rounder in most aspects of her life.
Sadly she doesn't have a blog, but it is something I will be talking to her about and hopefully she can put some of her creative ideas, tips and tricks out there for everyone to learn from.
We recently did our first craft class together at Violets Scrapbooking Store where we live and while she was so perfectly organised and doing the craft project with ease and flawlessly...
I was totally the opposite, I had a mess on the table, fluff and bits everywhere and am still finding hot glue in my  hair 3 days later..
I was a web of hot glue trails, while she was neat and tidy, not a hair out of place..
Total opposites, but we did manage to get the job done in time!
The project was for Valentine's day and it was simply adorable..
I promise as soon as V-Day is over I will post my creation, but as it is a gift for my boyfriend, I can't reveal it just yet..
So I'm posting a great pic of me and my crafty bestie..
Meet Jodi shes amazing, a wonderful friend and I hope a future blogger..

Happy Crafting :)
